As any of you who read my drivel may be aware I’ve been lusting (along with about a billion other people) after an iPhone since the announcement last January.
Well I’ve been blessed with one and I gotta say it’s freaking awesome
In addition to all the inherit goodness I’ve found some web apps that are wicked cool too.
First up is Meebo – web based IM.
Meebo works really well on the iPhone and it’s interface is suitably simple and straightforward. Sign in with your AIM account (or MSN or Google or Yahoo or Meebo) and all your buddies are accessible, their online status readily visible and chat to your hearts content. Meebo lets you have multiple simultaneous chats with your mates and updates the main page with ‘who spoke last’ info (so you know when to chat and when to shut-the-@*)-up.
Note – I don’t know what the deal is with the URL for meebo but if you leave out the l in wwwl.meebo you may be sent to the wilds of China.
Second up is Texterity. ![]()
Thanks to Texterity, I can now read Oracle magazine (plus others) on my iPhone courtesy of this portal that they provide . Note that you won’t be able to navigate this site unless you are on an iPhone
It’s not simply that I can go to www.oramag.com and read it that way, but more that all the content has been ‘iphoneized’ for my reading pleasure.
Here is a sample of how a magazine is presented to the lucky viewer .

If you want to read about the portal they have a non-iphone friendly site here that explains the what and why.
It looks like they are developing a dedicated reader app but how they’ll get the app on the phone is unknown (to me at least) at this time.
But – all in all – looks impressive!
